Costs, Currency, Exchange rate in Pakistan

Pakistan is an economical country to travel in. In terms of accommodation and restaurants there are options to fit all budgets, although greater variety is found in the larger cities. Transport is relatively inexpensive.

The national currency of Pakistan is the rupee (PKR). Coins are issued in 1, 2, and 5 rupee denominations while banknotes come in 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 rupee values.

Banks

The State Bank of Pakistan is the Central Bank. There are several domestic commercial banks including Allied Bank, Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, United Bank, Cooperative Banks, Emirates Bank International, JS Bank

9 am to 1:00 pm from Monday to Thursday and 9 am to 12:30 pm on Friday without break.

Special timings may be observed during the month of Ramazan, and you should inform yourself of these timings if you happen to be in the country during this period.

Banking Timings

Office Hours: 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Thursday, with a two hour break on Friday. Banks in Pakistan remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Credit Cards

Major credit cards such as Visa, Master Card, and others such as Rupee credit cards launched by National Bank of Pakistan and Habib Bank can be used for shopping and other transactions.
